LOL!!

When I first moved in here my downstairs neighbor said to me, "Its so good to see a nice girl moving in here. The last girl who lived here was perverted and corrupt." (No shit!?!)

This morning that same downstairs neighbor walked by me with a very terse "hi."

LMAO!!!!

(yeah, Os and I both saw that coming)

I don't live in the greatest neighborhood.

The apartment complex has an association and contracts with someone to mow the lawn and keep things neat. A lot of people keep little gardens in the front and several of us have plants and flowers on our balconies. Sounds pretty nice right?

Well most of the surrounding properties are not kept up to the same standard. There is the group of teenagers that live across the street. I'm not surprised to see garbage on their lawn once a week. Next door is the little old lady with the purple stairs and about 80 wind chimes hanging from her lopsided porch. The streets near by are filled with little houses that once were cute but have seen better days. Not the richest neighborhood in town - you get the picture.

Anyway, last night around 9:30 all hell breaks loose in the hood. Tires screeching and brakes squealing and crashes and bangs and bumps in the night. I started to think I was going to sleepin' in the bathtub last night.

As suddenly as it started it was gone. All was quiet on the the western front. I lay awake for a little while but eventually fell asleep to the whisper of a fan blowing in the corner and the lawn mower purring outside...

oh, and the old time country music floating up from downstairs and the occasional motorcycle that roared by.

I'm really liking Kalispell and this job and I'm learning a few lessons. One is that home isn't always where you grew up. And sometimes moving away can actually bring people closer.

I need a weekend to recover from my weekend.

We had absolutely beautiful weather over the weekend which was good and bad. The great part was that it was perfect for walking and planting and going to the Farmer's Market. The bad part is that it also melted a lot of the remaining snow pack which put the Big Creek camp in danger of flooding.

The office had its volunteer work weekend so I spent some time up at Big Creek camp. Refinishing and reconstructing picnic tables was my job. We didn't have to sand bag just yet so the crew was able to accomplish a lot more than just flood control. Big Creek is running very high now right next to camp so we're watching it carefully.

Played a little ultimate frisbee on Sunday and managed to somehow bang up my knee pretty good. Not sure just how I did it but its swollen and sore today. A night of rest is what I have planned so that should help.

Our big spring fund raiser is this weekend up at Lake McDonald Lodge. It means a busy week for me and a lot of running around on Friday night in heels (uugghhh) and some fancy, schmancy dress.

There's just no rest for the wicked ;)

A blog post because Os told me I had to...

Not much new to report kiddies, the job is going really well and I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm also enjoying Kalispell. It's a great little city with a nice vibe to it.

I got to spend a couple of days with Moose who was in town for a job interview (all of Os' girls are moving to the Flathead) and I also went home to Helena for Mother's Day and spent some time with my mommy. Due to our schedules I didn't get to see Os this time around but next time for sure (miss you big guy).

Hehe, I managed to beat my best time from Kalispell to Helena on Saturday. My previous record was 2 hours and 50 minutes. This weekend I made it in 2 hours and 30 minutes. Yes, I've got a lead foot - I'm working on it, for one thing its not very environmentally sound.

I also found this biking video on Youtube of the Going-to-the-Sun highway. Relax, sit back, put your feet up and take 6 minutes to watch it. It was taken only about a week ago so this is an accurate view of my backyard right now.

Send emails and good thoughts my way people. To be honest my mind has been occupied with other things since moving here and I haven't paid much attention to blogging so chat me up when you can.

Enjoy...
